A section of leaders from the Mt Kenya region is alleged to have formed a new political party.
The party, according to Citizen TV, is named The Service Party (TSP).
TSP has already been registered by the Registrar of Political Parties with its logo and signature colours as required.
The party is also reported to have opened 29 offices across the country.
Although the party has not yet received its formal certificate, it has already received a temporary certificate, according to Citizen TV.
The reports come after some of the leaders in the Jubilee party hinted during a funeral in Laikipia County on Saturday at the formation of the political outfit for the Mt Kenya region.
"We have 947 days to the next general election. Obviously we cannot be politicking from Monday to another Monday," Kieni Member of Parliament Kanini Kega stated during the burial.
The leaders were led by Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation Mwangi Kiunjuri.
The new political party is believed to be aimed at increasing the bargaining power of the Mt Kenya region ahead of the 2022 presidential election.
Some of the leaders from the region had earlier on opposed the moved and advised their colleagues to remain in the Jubilee Party under the leadership of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The formation of the party comes at a time when reports of a division in the Jubilee party have emerged.
