Sonko and Kuria are members of Team Wanjiku which advocates for the well-being of Kenyans.

Kiguta questioned Kuria about his integrity owing to his past combative outbursts and the integrity of some of the leaders he has been seen to associate with under the Team Wanjiku banner, among them Sonko and former Mungiku leader Maina Njenga.

Kuria said Njenga is not a member of Team Wanjiku, indicating that he only appears in their meetings. But, a question on his association with Sonko is what caused him to give Kiguta an unexpected lecture.

“You know people cannot be what you want them to be Ann. You cannot draw a caricature of what a leader is, and if you do that everybody in this country will be living in Karen or Lang’ata,” said the vocal MP.

“You cannot be a judge of values. Even you guys in the media, you cannot be a judge of values. So you think people of Nairobi were stupid to elect Mike Sonko as their Governor? So you think the people of Gatundu South who voted for me with 93% of the votes, you think they are crazy, or you think you are more intelligent than them? You think they were under some drugs that made them not see that their MP is a crook or has no values,” said the MP.
