You can’t write a book about coast politics without mentioning the name Aisha Jumwa.
She is one of the women in leadership at the coast whose fame is growing day in day out.
One does not need a political microscope to note how a wide part of the coastal counties have been opposition hubs since time immemorial.
Having parted ways with Raila Odinga’s ODM, the outspoken Malindi legislator has openly declared her support for DP Ruto’s presidential ambitions.
It is evident how ODM via its secretary general Edwin Sifuna has vowed to campaign against Jumwa in the 2022 polls.
That puts her between a rock and a hard place.
It is because she must make tough political choices for her to retain her seat. In a region that is highly dominated by the opposition, she might decide to stick to her anti-Raila politics and go it alone on a Jubilee ticket.
Besides, she can opt to re polish her loyalty to ODM and Raila Odinga so as to receive Raila’s blessings ahead of 2022.
Whatever decision she will take, she will have to take a political risk first.
Her anti-Raila politics have put her in a political jinx whereby she has got to play her cards well.
