Chief Justice David Maraga opened the two-floor facility, which is set to host judges and other judiciary staff. It was the first court to be opened by Maraga in Nyanza.

With politics anticipated in the event, pro-Ruto team skipped, only leaving Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose as their only representative.

"Please receive apologies from Vincent Kemosi, he was to be here but due to unavoidable circumstances, he didn't make it. Our chairman Joash Nyamoko is also not around," Mr Mose said.

Although the two asked for permissions, multiple sources indicated that they avoided the event because they viewed it as a Fred Matiang'i event.

Two camps have emerged in Gusii, with one team backing Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i while another one endorsing DP William Ruto as Uhuru's successor.

Maraga said a new court will be built in Manga Sub County in future, adding that it will help decongest cases in Nyamira, which is 18 kilometers apart.

"We shall have another court in Manga. I am going to review the request so that we also decongest Manga region. We want Justice to be availed nearby," he said.

Others who attended the event were Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi, MP Ben Momanyi, Senator Okong'o Mogeni and Governor John Nyagarama.
