Deputy President William Ruto has promised to construct a footbridge at the Eldoret National Polytechnic.
He said this will help to prevent accidents that have been witnessed on the road others leading to death.
“The road here is very hazardous to students causing many deaths, I will work with the management of the school and instruct the Ministry concerned to create an overpass between the college and to the other side to reduce the accidents,” said the DP.
He spoke while addressing the Eldoret National Polytechnic on Tuesday after he presided over their graduation ceremony.
“I expect the drawing of the overpass to be done by students of the Civil Engineering department because the skills that you have acquired will help you do that,” added the Jubilee party deputy leader.
Ruto, however, directed the Eldoret National Polytechnic principal to liaise with his office for him to be given the ministry to come and sort out the issue once and for all.
The principal Josephat Sawe also said if the footbridge will be constructed cases of accidents will be a thing of the past.
Students have in many cases demonstrated over regular accidents caused by Langas Matatus that have injured many students while others killed by over-speeding vehicles.
