Mumias Member of Parliament Benjamin Washiali has issued his conditions for supporting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking on Friday in Vihiga, the outspoken legislator said that he would not support the initiative if it does not include proposals to reduce the tax burden on the Kenyan people.
"If their proposals in the BBI don't include a road map to reducing the burden on Kenyans, I think that scores of Kenyans, me included, will have a problem with that proposal (Ikiwa proposals zao kwa hiyo BBI haitakuwa na mwelekeo ya kupunguza mzigo kwa Wakenya nafikiria Wakenya wengi akiwemo mimi tutakuwa na shida na hiyo proposal), " the Mumias MP said.
His strong words come as members of the BBI committee continue with the process of compiling a report on their findings after collecting views from Kenyans from all the 47 counties.
Kenyans had the opportunity to weigh in on the governance structure that they think the country should embrace going forward.
There are those who vouched for an expanded executive that will include the prime minister and two deputy prime ministers.
ODM leader Raila Odinga said that a referendum will be held based on the recommendations of the BBI report.
