Dr Ruto will be returning to Nyamira having postponed the Friday trip to attend his daughter, Stephanie Ruto's graduation at Strathmore University.

North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko on Friday confirmed the Monday's trip, arguing that he will be launching several days projects in the region.

"Let those talking politics to continue but for us, we shall only focus on development. The DP shall be around and we are happy to have him," he said.

Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose also confirmed Ruto's trip. The DP shall fundraise for several bodaboda groups at Rigoma on Monday.

But reports indicate that Borabu MP Ben Momanyi and Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi could miss out in the event for the first time.

The two fear a backlash following pronouncements from a number of local leaders that they will be supporting Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i for Presidency.

With Matiang'i's bid now gathering momentum, a number of leaders are keen not to be found on the receiving end in 2022 polls.

"I will not he around. I am currently in Nairobi for other duties. I will be at home next weekend though," Momanyi said in a phone call, an indication that he won't be attending on Monday.

Ms Momanyi on her part is also said to be attending a Parliamentary function in Nairobi. It's not however clear if West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi will be attending.

Already, Governor John Nyagarama and Senator Okong'o Mogeni are backing Dr Matiang'i's bid. The two skipped Ruto's function in Nyamira three weeks ago.
