Police in Homa Bay county are investigating an incident where a man was found murdered and his body dumped inside a Toyota Probox vehicle.
The police believe was found stuffed inside the vehicle's trunk was assualted owing to his serious deep head cuts and bruises.
The vehicle was found parked in a thicket in Wiga village, Homa Bay Sub County, and also jad its face badly injurwd beyinf recognition.
The incident was confirmed by area Assistant Chief Andrew Okatch, who added that the naked body was also badly mutilated.
“He sustained deep cuts on the head and bruises on various body parts,” he told the Standard on Monday.
He suspected that the deceased might have been killed elsewhere and dumped there, adding that he was notified of the abandoned vehicle by a guard, before the discovery was made.
Area residents blamed the government for the rising insecurity in the area, saying that nothing has been done despite offering land for construction of a police station.
“As residents, we had given a two-acre piece of land for government to set up a police post to boost security,” said Joseph Obuya and echoed by Magret Obola.
Area County Commander Esther Seroney said that a probe has been launched into the matter, after police who arrived at the crime scene collected some clues.
They found some court documents, a voters card, an ATM card and a a blood stained stone near the man whose face had been destroyed beyond recognition.
The body of the man whose eyes were also gouged out was taken to the Homa Bay Referral Hospital pending a pathological test.
