Political analyst Herman Manyora has warned Deputy President William Ruto against early celebrations over the outcome of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
Ruto will be the major winner if the report is to be implemented in its current state, given that it excludes some of the proposals he has been opposed to, including executive expansion.
Manyora has warned that the DP might have it hard, especially if the proposed Prime Minister position is to be given to ODM leader Raila Odinga after the speedy implementation his (Ruto) allies are pushing for.
According to Manyora, Raila is very likely to use his new position to better his winning chances in future elections, apparently, the 2022 presidential race, a seat the DP is also eyeing.
"Supposing this 'harmless' report is implemented with all its contradictions and inconsistencies and you have that laughable Prime Minister and it's given to Raila. For the next two years, he will have entered the government, he will have remembered how he never used his Prime Minister position and will not make the same mistakes," he cautioned.
The University of Nairobi don made the remarks on his YouTube analysis channel Take It or Leave It on Friday.
On the other hand, he warned that accepting such a position will reduce Raila to a laughable figure, making him appear outsmarted by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said that the former Prime Minister will have allowed himself to be outfoxed by Uhuru, with whom they have been pushing for changes, through the BBI, after their 2018 truce.
"He will have been outsmarted, he will have been outfoxed by Uhuru Kenyatta in a bad way and he will come out a bad loser," said Manyora.
In its proposals launched on Wednesday, the BBI taskforce proposed that the Prime Minister be picked from the National Assembly, where he will be the head of government operations.
