Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua maintains that he's still the best bet to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come 2022.
The head of state is set to retire having served his two terms of five years. He first won state House race in 2013.
In a series of tweets on Thursday, Mutua said his close working relationship with former President Mwai Kibaki gives him required experience to take over.
According to Mutua, his close ties with President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga also gives him an upper hand.
"I am ready and steadfast in my quest to Presidency because I have worked closely with both Presidents Mwai Kibaki and Uhuru Kenyatta and in a political friendship with Raila Odinga and know I have their support... ...and that of many development minded Kenyans across the country to be the next President of Kenya," he said in one of the tweets.
The former government spokesperson has been at loggerheads with former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka over the control of Ukambani.
He believes that time has come for the Kamba community to be backed for State House bid, arguing that he has come of age.
"The Kamba community is tired of just being used as supporters of others to Statehouse. We are ready to be supported to Statehouse by other leaders and communities," Mutua noted in another tweet.
