Okoth succumbed at the Nairobi Hospital on Friday, bringing to a halt his long battle with cancer of the colon.

In his tribute to the youthful leader, Sifuna narrated how he directly benefitted from Okoth, revealing that he (Okoth) was the power behind his win in Kibra in his senatorial bid.

Sifuna who vied on the ODM ticket, at a when Okoth was seeking his reelection on the same party ticket says that Okoth's help enabled him to sweep cross the constituency, enabling him to finish second.

"As a late entrant into the Nairobi senate race in 2017 with literally weeks to campaign, I needed all the help I cld get. I had the easiest campaign in Kibra coz Ken Okoth took my hand and personally introduced me to EVERYBODY there. I won Kibra resoundingly," he said.

Sifuna lost the position to current senator Johnson Sakaja or the ruling Jubilee Party.

Okoth succumbed only a few weeks after his return from France where he was being treated for the same disease, and was appearing to be recovering well before being taken ill on Thursday.
