Ledama, who was visibly agitated, reminded Cheruiyot that he will not sit back and watch the land being destroyed in the name of sparing squatters.

He said that the Senator lacks touch with the real issue.

The ODM legislator further said he is ready to protect the interests of the people rather than selfish. He also said that Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko is doing his job and needs the support of different stakeholders.

“You have conserved the land in Kericho, you know what, you conserve your land in Kericho and then you come and destroy ours. We will not let you do that and what Keriako Tobiko is doing and let me put it this way because I have listened to you talk. You know am not the one who embarrassed you. You are the one who is an embarrassment to yourself because you cannot go on national Television and insult a cabinet Secretary and tell him he is an idiot," said Ledama in a video he shared on Twitter

“You cannot go out there and say show me where you have been able to gazette. We are the people of Narok and as a senator of Narok County it is my duty to protect their interests of those people,“ he added.

Cheruiyot is among the fiercest critics of the planned eviction.

His Belgut counterpart Nelson Koech has also opposed the eviction.
