The battle for Kibra by-election is taking shape with each party exuding confidence ahead of Thursday's polls.
Orange Democratic Movement party and the Jubilee party are embroiled in unending wrangles, with DP William Ruto and Raila Odinga also featuring.
Ex-Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Friday insisted that the Luhya community in Kibra will vote for McDonald Mariga of Jubilee, adding that Luo voters should join the team.
"Only a fool can break the voting partnership between our two communities! It has been perfectly right for Raila & Ken Okoth to drink from this political alliance for all these years. There is NOW absolutely nothing wrong in Mariga enjoying the same support," he said.
But Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo accused the former legislator of pulling tribal cards in Kibra. Mr Amollo took a swipe at Mariga, questioning his past voting record.
Otiende said that Kibra voters will not be coerced to vote for Mariga, who he says has never voted. Mr Mariga is not a voter in Kibra.
"Catchword: VOTING; If Only Your Candidate Found It Fit To VOTE In Any Vote Count All His Adult Years! You Want Kibra Voters To Vote A Man Who Has NEVER Voted; WON’T Vote For Himself; DOES’NT Reside in Kibra; And Couldn’t Uplift Anyone In Kibra Whilst Earning Millions! SERIOUSLY?" he said.
Khalwale responded: "U suffer from selective amnesia. Sen Moses Kajwang was elected as senator for Homa Bay in the byelection at a time when he was not registered as a voter there. He won despite not voting for himself."
Other candidates in November 7th poll include Raila Odinga's former aide Eliud Owalo of Amani National Congress and Eng Ramadhan Khamisi of Ford Kenya.
