Maalim, a former Speaker of the National Assembly, claimed Saudi Arabia was troubling Somalia to benefit from its gas and oil which was getting scarce in Riyadh.

He further alleged United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other parties were giving Somalia problems since they use its wide coast to transport cargo across the world.

"If you ask me what is the problem with Somalia? My answer is Saudi Arabia& UAE & everybody else is an agent or chance profiteer. Reasons Oil/Gas scare for Saudis and global transit traffic for Dubai. If Somalia develops its Oil/Gas& modern ports on East Coast Saudi & UAE will lose," Maalim said.

In a rejoinder, Kuria told off the former legislator saying Nairobi did not care about Somalia's problems as long as Sheikh Ahmed Madobe remains the President of the Jubaland State.

He said for Madobe's sake, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers can continue fighting Al-Shabaab, and Kenya won't care about Somalia's natural resources, which Maalim claimed are being targeted.

"You are disturbing us for nothing. As Kenyans we are ok as long as Madobe is Ok. We can even continue losing troops and don't give a hoot what the Emiratis or Saudis are mining in Somalia," Kuria tweeted on Tuesday.
