Uasin Gishu County Assembly has vowed to overwhelmingly support the Punguza Mizigo bill fronted by Thirdway Alliance Kenya party leader Dr Ekuru Aukot.
Leader of Majority at the Uasin Gishu County Assembly Josephat Lowoi said they will vote for the bill in totality.
“As members of the county assembly, we have agreed to support the bill and we are only waiting for the public participation. After that, we will pass it,” said the Karuna Meibeki MCA.
They spoke at the Uasin Gishu Assembly on Tuesday.
“If we leaders have agreed, the public will agree since we are their representatives. Uasin Gishu will be the first county assembly to pass the bill without fear or contradiction since we need development for wananchi,” he added.
His sentiments were echoed by Huruma MCA Peter Chomba who said the bill is timely and is what Kenyans have been waiting for since no part of the country will be marginalized.
Chomba gave an example of his ward where he said political leaders have marginalized the ward and they have never been seen since they were elected.
He further said that once the Punguza Mizigo Bill is passed, there will be more funds channelled to ward levels thus, more development.
“My ward has 31,500 registered voters, produces the most revenue but we have less development. The bill will ensure equal distribution of resources,” he added.
