Tana River governor Governor Dhadho Godhana wants three Garissa leaders including Garissa Governor Ali Korane arrested for incitement.
Godhana wants Korane, together with his Deputy Governor Dagane Muhumed and Faafi MP Abdikadir Osman arrested for inciting Garissa residents against Tana River people over a boundary dispute row. "The dispute intensified when Garissa county, led by the governor and his deputy, began to build their administrative units within Tana River county. There was so much resistance and human conflict, which led to several meetings and deliberations between leaders from the two counties,” Godhana says.Godhana accused Governor Korane of having called on his community to attack and destroy property of residents who are not of Somali origin. "They also instructed the Somalis to kill policemen if they stood in their way." Said Godhana He has asked Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Hajji to order the National Police Service (NPS) and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to investigate into the matter and charge the three leaders for ethnic remarks.The governor noted that the three leader went on to accuse him of being corrupt."The false and misleading words made by the three and the incessant bad publicity are malicious, false, reckless and beyond the frontiers of the freedom of speech as recognised under the Constitution," concluded Godhana.
