The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has made important progress in the ongoing investigations in the bank heist saga.
In a tweet on Saturday, the investigative body gave the public updates, saying that it had made arrests and recovered 4 million shillings.
DCI arrested Constable Chris Ayienda Machogu, an arrest which led to the arrest of his colleague Vincent Owuor after interrogation.
"#UPDATE| @DCI_Kenya Detectives from #SCPU have arrested @APSKenya Constable Chris Ayienda Machogu & recovered Ksh. 4M. Further interrogation led Detectives to his accomplice @PoliceKE Constable Vincent Owour in whose house at Kendu Bay Ksh. 3Million & and M/vehicle were recovered, " the DCI's tweet read.
The theft of over 70 million this week that was being transported to Automated Teller Machines has gripped members of the Kenyan public.
Law enforcement authorities said that they had launched investigations with the aim of bringing the culprits to book.
Cash boxes and bags that were being used to transport the cash were found dumped in a forest after a tip from members of the public.
It is hoped that the significant arrests will help to unravel the bank heist.
This is not the first time that money being taken to ATMs has been stolen.
Over 60 million is still out there.
