More than sixty pupils from Kangundo Central ward on Monday received boxes and shoes from area Member of County Assembly Moses Mitaa.
Speaking after the event Mitaa said that he began the initiative in a bid to motivate learners in school.
He acknowledged that this is the second year he is doing so and he can see a change in the performance compared to last year.
"We do this yearly to our top KCPE performers in our region to motivate them and others to perform even better," said Mitaa.
"We have seen a change in the performance this year compared to last year and we are hoping for even better results in the coming year," he said.
Mumbua Mutua a parent told journalists that as parents they had been helped a lot since the money will be used to buy other things.
"We wish to thank our area MCA Mitaa for his genuine gesture. The money we would have bought these items will be used to buy other things", said Mutua.
" I would urge other leaders to find a way of motivating learners, it goes a long way," she added.
