The DP has been facing criticism from a section of opposition leaders, who accuse him of donating millions whose source cannot be accounted for.

Speaking at Malindi on Saturday, Raila questioned the source of Ruto's money, arguing that the culture was encouraging corruption.

Odinga dismissed claims that Coast region has shifted allegiance, adding that the millions used by the DP cannot sway voters. He said the fight against corruption is unstoppable.

“They came here with money bags to make contributions for women, church and youth fundraisers claiming Coast has shifted its allegiance," he said.

"Where did he get all the money he contributes ... about Sh100 million ... yet we know his salary his Sh1 million a month?"

The DP has often accused Odinga of frustrating his efforts to help churches, saying that the veteran opposition leader is against the word of God.

But at Gekano Parish on Saturday, Dr Ruto seemed to have obeyed a directive by Catholic Church, contributing 'the required amount of money'.

"I have given the Bishop the money in compliance with the new regulations. We cannot exceed that amount," Ruto said amid cheers from the crowd.
