Confirming the reinstatement on Wednesday, the Nyamira County Public Service Board (CPSB) Chairman Dr Peter Kereri said the teachers will start offering their services when schools re-open in January 2020.

"When the contract of the teachers expired, it was not mandatory that they would be renewed. The teachers who have been reinstated are those who we have found had all the requirements we needed such as original certificates and Teachers Service Commission (TSC) numbers," said Kereri.

He also noted that matters education in the county should not be politicized adding that the reinstated teachers will serve for a 3-year contract.

"There are a few whose contracts have not been renewed because they did not meet the requirements. We encourage them to get the necessary documents so that in future the county can hire them to help our children," said the CPSB chair.

Kitutu Masaba politician Mwancha Okioma welcomed the county's decision to reinstate the ECDE teachers and challenged the Governor John Nyagarama-led administration to employ the teachers on permanent terms.

"I thank the county for reinstating the teachers. Let the county employ the teachers on permanent terms to avoid inconveniences in matters education," Okioma stated.
