Exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna has finally boarded a Nairobi-bound aircraft after hours of uncertainty at Frankfurt airport in Germany.
Miguna left Canada on Monday but was temporarily halted in Germany, after Lufthansa airline claimed the government of Kenya had barred it from ferrying him.
However, Government Spokesperson Col (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna insisted that President Uhuru Kenyatta's stand on Miguna's return remained unchanged.
After an entire day of waiting, Miguna has confirmed that he has finally been allowed to travel home.
"Homebound. Unbowed! Dynamic. Resourceful. Arrival: JKIA, on Wednesday, Jan 8, 2020 at 9:45 a.m. A Kenyan by birth and right.
"Kenyans are not slaves. Freedom must come through the fearless the pursuit of truth and justice.See you in Nairobi," he tweeted.
Once he arrives at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesday, it will be his first entry to the country after two years.
Miguna was blocked from entering the country in 2018, despite numerous court orders directing the government to facilitate his return.
He was forcefully evicted in February 2018, before his attempts to return on March the same year.
He is one of lawyers who administered a mock oath to ODM leader Raila Odinga in 2018.
