Handlers of Deputy President William Ruto have reportedly identified a new political party which he will use as an alternative to Jubilee in 2022 polls.

While the party could not be immediately established, Saturday Nation says that it will be used in case rebellion within Jubilee intensifies.

For months now, Dr Ruto is fighting internal wrangles within Jubilee, which have seen the party divided into Tanga Tanga team and Kieleweke.

While Tanga Tanga supports his 2022 bid, Kieleweke, which is under nominated MP Maina Kamanda, leans towards President Uhuru Kenyatta and has been accusing Dr Ruto of sabotaging service delivery.

Early this year, in an indication that Jubilee could split further, David Murathe, an ally of President Uhuru Kenyatta, dismissed Dr Ruto's presidential ambitions.

Although he resigned, Murathe was never rebuked by President Uhuru Kenyatta and continues to enjoy good relationship with the Head of State.

"There is no law barring President Kenyatta serving as deputy to another President, and the same law says the deputy president assumes office automatically his or her boss becomes incapacitated," he said, adding there are gaps in the law that need proper interpretation.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday dropped yet another hint that he might not support DP William Ruto, a man who has stood with him in the last two elections.

“Uchaguzi utakuja na Mungu ndiye hupeana uongozi. Tufanye kazi (God knows who will be elected. It is time to work),” he said.

There were indications that Dr Ruto was to secretly take over CCM party but such plans may have stopped. Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto and businessman Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki are currently revamping the party.
