Mr Wandayi disparaged media reports of a refund as fabrications of the media after being asked about it during a wide-ranging interview on Media Max-owned K24 TV.

"No, those are fabrications of the media," he said.

He downplayed claims that the ODM nomination process was flawed, saying that issues that were reported were insignificant.

There had been reports circulating in the media that Raila Odinga was displeased with how officials of the party carried out the exercise.

Imran Okoth, the brother of the late former Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth, was declared the winner and handed the nomination certificate by the ODM leader himself.

Some of the aspirants claimed that the nomination had issues with voters missing their names in the party register.

Peter Orero, one of the aspirants, had sought to contest Imran Okoth's victory but abandoned the idea after being prevailed upon by the party's top brass.

Shem Owino, another aspirant, had claimed that the names of his supporters were missing in the register, describing the exercise as not good.
