Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday hosted United Kingdom's (UK) High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey at his Karen office in Nairobi.
The two discussed a wide range of issues during the meeting including; agriculture, trade, education, health among others.
During the meeting, the DP reportedly requested the United Kingdom government to extend student visas to give them more time so that they can gain more experience in their fields of specialization.
"Kenya and the UK boast of cordial bonds hinged on trade and investment, education, tourism. We seek London's consideration to extend student visas and increase internship opportunities for Kenyans to gain experience, skills to drive innovation, research and development back home," he said.
The DP also requested the UK government to support Kenya's bid to have a non-permanent seat at the United Nations (UN) Security Council.
"Britain's support for Kenya's bid for a non-permanent seat at the UN will give impetus to addressing regional issues, such as terror, extremism, peace building and integration," he tweeted after the meeting.
