Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has said Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga's silence on his future political ambition is justifiable.
Barely three years to the next election, Odinga has been silent on whether he will be taking a fifth shot at the presidency, which Nyong'o says is understandable.
The governor said Raila would rather keep silent on the 2022 issue, well aware that he might once again seek the seat, but not be declared the winner even after winning.
"One of the reasons why Raila is not talking about the presidency is because he has lost elections three times. So what is the point of going to elections even if you get the vote, you will not be declared the winner," he said.
The county boss made the remarks on NTV's AM Live on Monday morning, where he also threw his weight behind the calls to amend the constitution to a parliamentary system.
He argued that under a parliamentary system, the nation can be assured of democratic presidential elections.
"We have seen that the presidential elections doesn't bring democratic elections, let us do something else. Let's wait the BBI to come out with a report for us to discus it," he added.
