This follows claims by Aukot that some MCA's were bribed to shoot down the Punguza Mizigo Bill.

Speaking after the assembly rejected the bill, Mwangangi stated that it was shameful for Aukot to level such claims on MCAs.

"It is indeed hurting for a member of the public and in the stature of Ekuru Aukot who we welcomed to this assembly and who was interrogated about the bill and asked questions. It's very unfortunate for him to go out of his way to claim that MCAs did not even take time to read the bill and were paid to reject the bill," said Mwangangi.

She said that according to the MCAs,  after interrogating Aukot last week, he was unable to answer their questions satisfactorily.

"In the view of the members, he was not able to answer their concerns adequately on that bill," she said.

On Wednesday, Aukot claimed that bribery, political sycophancy and coercion were among the things that led to the rejection of the bill.

He stated that some MCAs had been threatened with dire consequences by their respective parties if they supported the bill.

Aukots bill hit a snag on Wednesday after 24 counties failed to adopt it.
