Speaking on Friday as he flagged off the members of the Kenya National Motorcross team that will represent Kenya in Zimbabwe, the Head of State said that the basis of the redevelopment was to accommodate all sporting disciplines.

The stadium that plays hosts to international sporting events, the president said, will become the home of all sports associations in the country in a bid to grow all sports.

"We are also developing Kasarani to be the home of all our associations so as a government we want to create facilities that nurture the talents that we have in all the different fields, in all the different sports," President Uhuru said.

The president pledged the support of his administration for all the sporting disciplines, saying that the focus of the country should be flying Kenya's flag in international sporting events.

Kasarani is the country's most iconic sporting facility.

The news of its redevelopment will come as good news to players in sports that don't receive much attention.

Football is among the country's most-loved sport.

The national football team at times manages to attract fans to fill stadiums.
