Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has explained what he believes triggers political assassinations in Kenya.
Since independence, a number of leading politicians have succumbed to the bullet, and most of the cases remain unsolved.
And in a tweet on Tuesday, Mr Kabando linked the assassinations to plunder of public resources and greedy people keen to evade accountability.
Mr Kabando said power, greed and corruption trigger political murders adding that most people fear facing accountability.
"Political murders happen because powerful looters of public and their greedy surrogates are threatened by accountability, transparency and good governance. It happens because of the crude struggle for control of state resources. Power greed, the corruption that drives political murders," he wrote.
Mr Kabando asked Kenyans to desist from politicising threats reported by others, adding that authorities should investigate.
"Tragedy of POLITICAL ASSASSINATIONS a CURSE in KENYA. Killers of Tom Mboya, Pio Gama Pinto, JM Kariuki, Robert Ouko, countless others remain unresolved. Trying to dismiss or trivialize ANY complaints of threats on ANYONE’s life is SADISTIC. Let @NPSOfficial_KE @DCI_Kenya work," he said.
On Monday, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua recorded a statement with the police, claiming that his life is in danger. He linked DP William Ruto, Kipchumba Murkomen and Aden Duale to his woes.
