Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho on Wednesday hosted Fionnuala Quinlan, Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland.
The second term governor took to social media to confirm the existence of their meeting. He noted that the government of Ireland shares cordial ties with Kenya, adding that they have plans to take the same to the next level in the coming years. The two met at Joho's office in Mombasa County.
"Ireland and Kenya share a long history of friendship and co-operation. It was a pleasure to host H.E Fionnuala Quinlan, Ambassador of the Republic of Ireland, who paid me a courtesy in my office yesterday ~ @FionnualaQuinl2 @IrlEmbKenya @BIrlKe," he said.
The ODM Deputy Party Leader said that the focus of their conversation was on economic and trade cooperation between Mombasa and Ireland. He exuded confidence that Mombasa will reap big from the friendship it shares with the Ireland Republic, adding that remains on the best gateways to East Africa.
"The focus of our engagement was in strengthening the existing economic and trade co-operation between Mombasa and The Republic of Ireland leveraging on the strategic economic position of Mombasa as the gateway to East and Central Africa ~ @FionnualaQuinl2," he added.
