President Uhuru Kenyatta has mourned former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth's mother, Rahab Wambui.
In a tweet on Thursday, the head of state prayed for the comfort of Kenneth's family.
"It is with profound sadness that I have this morning received news of the death of Mama Rahab Wambui Muhuni. Condolences to my friend Hon Peter Kenneth and the entire family. I pray for God's comfort and providence in this difficult period of mourning," reads the State House tweet.
The late Wambui passed away on Thursday morning after a long time illness.
She had been receiving treatment at Nairobi's Aga Khan Hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) since November 2018.
It has not been revealed what Wambui was suffering from. Her life has not been easy as he had been confined to a wheelchair for the last 10 years.
More leaders and Kenyans have joined in to send condolence messages to Kenneth's family.
