In an effort to provide accessible health care to its people, the County Government of Nakuru has announced that the first phase of the 150-bed modern maternity wing at Elburgon sub-county hospital in Molo will be complete by mid this year.
The Sh40 million facility will have a modern theatre to offer quality essential and emergency care to mothers and babies.
"The facility is expected to ease maternal congestion at the Elburgon and Molo sub-County hospitals," reads part of the post on the Nakuru county government official communications Facebook page.
The governor Lee Kinyanjui administration has allocated 32 per cent of its annual budget to healthcare which amounts to Sh6.3 billion.
Kinyanjui's pre-election manifesto promised to prioritize on healthcare sector and make it accessible to residents.
"Already, Governor Lee’s administration has advertised for over 380 job offers across various cadres in the health sector. Upgrade of health facilities is ongoing in other parts of the County," noted part of the post.
Over Sh1 billion has also been set aside for infrastructural upgrade across the county with the remaining amount to go towards the purchase of drugs and equipment, hiring of staff, training and promotions.
