The function was presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta and attended by a host of leaders, among them Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

However, Okango dismissed the launch and the entire BBI report, as a diversionary tactic being employed by the government, with an aim of taking the attention off its failures.

"This is just political gymnastics, the report has been formed to distract Kenyans from realising that the government has been unable to deliver, including fighting corruption. (Hii ni sarakasi ya kisiasa, hii ripoti imeundwa kizubaisha wakenya na kuwaziba macho wasione serikali imeshindwa na kazi, ikiweno kupigana na ufisadi)," he said on Wednesday night.

Okango spoke on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show, also attended by political commentator and governance expert David Osiany.

He claimed BBI was hijacked by the political class, who proceeded to have the taskforce propose their own suggestions in its report.

"We are being told that these are Kenyans' suggestions, but they are saying that their suggestions were not include.  (Tunaambiwa haya ni mapendekezo ya wakenya lakini wananchi wanasema waliyosema hayako)," he added.

The report proposes reintroduction of the Prime Minister, who will be picked from Parliament by the president.

It also proposes a hybrid mode of cabinet formation.

This means that Cabinet Secretaries, whose names will be reverted to the initial Cabinet Ministers, will be picked from both Parliament and outside.
