Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has promised former Kakamega senator Bonny Khalwale the secretary general's job in Jubilee as the fallout in the ruling party continues to play out in public.
Speaking on Sunday at the Kapsumusung PAG Church at Jeprop Hamisi in Vihiga County, Senator Cherargei hailed Khalwale as the fitting replacement for embattled Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju who has come under blistering criticism over claims of joining Raila Odinga's inner circle.
"I want to assure you Khalwale that we will give you the Jubilee secretary general job because that other person is unable to do his work. (Na nataka nikuhakikishie Mweshimiwa Khalawale ambaye tulikukaribisha kwa chama ya Jubilee, sisi tutakupea uwe secretary general wa Jubilee kwa sababu ule mtu ameshindwa kufanya kazi.)," Senator Cherargei said.
The outspoken senator's strong words come in the context of growing claims that the current Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju is working from within to undermine the party's unity and to derail Deputy President Dr William Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions.
The governing party's SG has strongly rebuffed the allegations levelled against him, saying that he will not address them in public.
DP Ruto expressed his surprise on a tweet that Mr Tuju was working for the opposition.
"So our democracy is so liberal that the SG of the ruling party has become the chief strategist of the opposition!! Maajabu, " the DP's tweet read.
