Kapseret Member of parliament Oscar Sudi now wants learning institutions including secondary schools to pardon parents from paying school fees in full.
Through his official Facebook page post on Wednesday, Sudi said the learning institutions should engage with parents rather than sending students home for fees since parents cannot pay fees in full.
"I urge all heads of various academic institutions including secondary schools and universities to kindly pardon parents from paying school fees in full.
"The zero balance rule is giving many parents and guardians sleepless nights. The administration of these various institutions should humanly engage the parents on the possible plan rather than demanding full prompt payment of fees," said the Kapseret second term legislator.
"As we are all aware that the current economy is getting unbearable and there is very little circulation of cash in the country, the government through the Ministry of Education should get to understand that Kenyans are going through very tough economic times. Let's be human and realistic," added the Jubilee Kapseret vocal member of parliament.
According to Sudi media reports indicate that students in Maseno University are demonstrating due to demands made by the institution urging students to clear school fees before the commencement of exams.
