Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga has questioned the sincerity of Deputy President William Ruto, arguing that he has a questionable character.
Mr Odinga has been at loggerheads with Dr Ruto for years now, with the two keen to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who retires in 2022.
While addressing residents of Kibra on Sunday, Odinga likened Ruto to a bat, an animal with some features of a bird. He chided him for allegedly 'hiding' in Church.
The ODM leader claimed that Dr Ruto is a criminal who should be avoided by Kenyans who love peace. He dragged him to the recent violence in Ganda ward.
"The Bible says, because I hear you saying that you're a Christian, those who live by the sword will die by the same sword. You keep on lying that you're a man of God but you're a criminal," claimed Mr Odinga.
Dr Ruto has been accusing Odinga of inciting Kenyans, linking him and the ODM party to violence that rocked Kibra constituency during Thursday's by-election.
The DP has never failed to make reference to his strong Christian background, always accusing those criticising his huge donations to churches of sabotage.
“When you see some of us go to church, lift hands, make this contribution it’s because we can’t forget where God brought us from Some of us have more to thank God for, than some of us,” he said in a past event.
