The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) will continue pushing for ethical sobriety in Nairobi county, EACC Chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak has said.
EACC, in collaboration with the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP), have intensified the purge on graft by among others, going for top county officials.
Mbarak now says that the commission will not spare county officials engaging in corrupt activities. He said that other unethical behaviours among them will also be dealt with.
“EACC is targeting errant senior county officials who are known to have been engaging in corrupt activities and other malpractices," he told the Wednesday Standard.
He said that the commission remains committed to ensuring the realisation of total accountability and transparency in the use of public finances in the devolved units.
In that case, he said, the EACC will continue concentrating on the Nairobi County leadership, where governor Mike Sonko and Speaker Beatrice Elachi are under probe.
“EACC is committed to ensuring that there is proper realisation of the total accountability and transparency of the county government,” added Mbarak.
While Sonko has already been arraigned in court over graft charges, Elachi is accused of abuse of office and making irregular appointments and promotions.
