Most Kenyans seem to be focusing on good cameras, screen size and price when purchasing smartphones, a report released by Jumia in 2019 January reveals.
However, it is always imperative to consider critical features that define the lifespan and usability of a phone because as much as price is a very important factor, you would not want a cheap smartphone that you can hardly use.
These are the core factors you should put into consideration when purchasing a smartphone.
1. Smartphone's processing speed
How fast a smartphone can process information will determine how long it lasts because most slowly processing smartphones tend to overheat hence get worn out easily. In fact, in most situations, smartphones with low processing speeds tend to develop issues with their motherboards after a few years of use and you have to replace them at very high costs.
A good processor will make your smartphone apps run smoothly, hence preventing it from hanging as well. Currently, at least an octa-core processing phone will suffice.
2. Size of the RAM
RAM holds currently running apps on the smartphone, which means its size will determine how many apps you can run at ago. Even if you had bigger internal storage but little RAM, your smartphone would still hang.
More RAM will ensure a smooth experience with your smartphone so that you do not get frustrated when for example when you are switching between apps.
3. Screen technology
The type of screen will determine the number of factors, one battery life. Also, it will determine how clear objects are on the screen.
Most smartphones in the market come with an IPS LCD screen or Super AMOLED screen. Super AMOLED screens consume less power and have better vivid images than their counterparts, making the phone's battery last longer.
