It is also a huge step for a baby into a new world of all tastes and textures. Therefore, introducing your baby to food for the first time can be confusing.

At this age start weaning your baby with thin and pure foods which are easily to mash about with baby's gums and also easy to digest.

Offering of few tablespoons of food 1-3 times a day is sufficient to your baby.

Here are some foods you could start with;

1.Pumpkin

It is a great source of fibre which aids in digestion in babies. It prevents irritation in the intestines and also kills infections such as intestinal worms. It is rich in calcium which helps the growth of stronger bones.

2.Banana

They are good for the treatment of diarrhoea. They are also full of slow-release sugars which provide sustained energy for the baby.

3.Pawpaw

It is rich in vitamin C and also high in soluble fibre which is important for normal bowel function. Pawpaw contain enzymes which helps in digestion.

4.Baby rice

Baby rice is easily digested and has a milky taste that helps to ease baby's transition from a purely milk based diet to solids.

5.Yoghurt

Organic whole yoghurt is the best first dairy food to introduce to your baby. It is well balanced with healthy fat, protein and milk sugar. It is also high in calcium,vitamin D and phosphorus which helps baby's body healthy.

6.Blended red meat

The red meat is the only food with iron,zinc and vitamin B12 which are three major nutrients in babies deficiency.

7.Potatoes

They contain vitamin C and are a good source of potassium. Don't stop breastfeeding your baby after weaning begins.
