Speaker Moffat Teya last week threatened to have the governor impeached over the ECDE teachers stalemate, something that has fueled tensions between the two.

In the letter, the speaker who was acting following resolutions of the house, also suspended vetting of Chief Officers, something that could cause paralysis in government.

"Therefore note, vetting of Chief Officers has been suspended until the teachers are reinstated. Also, we shall commence the collection of signatures for impeachment," read the letter.

The country government has not renewed contracts of over 500 teachers, despite the assembly factoring the in the 2019/20 budget.

Last week, Nyagarama called for a crisis meeting in Nairobi where an impeachment of Speaker Moffat Teya was discussed, with Nyagarama accusing him of undermining him.

"Some MCAs have met the governor. He's very furious with the letter and there will be casualties. He now wants to take the speaker head-on," said the source.

The government insists that proper vetting must be done. It claims that some teachers were still in college, some with fake certificates while others do not have TSC numbers.

Nominated MCA Innocent Mose however says impeachment of the speaker won't be easy, adding that both sides command the assembly to some extent.

"All I can assure you is that none can raise two-thirds. The only winners here will be MCAs who will be bribed. The two should sit and talk," he said.
