Education Cabinet Secretary (CS) Prof George Magoha has confirmed that preparations for the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) are complete.
Speaking on Wednesday, the tough-talking CS said students would sit for their papers as scheduled.
"For this year's exams standard eight and form four exams, the preparations are complete. Absolutely complete," Magoha said.
"The examination has been set it is ready. It will be seen in the morning of each day for the exams, " he added.
The national exams are expected to commence in October to November.
Students in the country do the national exams after eight years in primary school and after four years in secondary school in order to proceed to the next level.
The new Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) is expected to fundamentally alter how students are examined.
Unlike in the 8-4-4 system where undue weight is placed on how students perform in the national examinations, focus will shift to practical skills in the CBC.
Exams have long been a staple of the Kenyan education system as a way of assessing the intellectual abilities of students.
There have been calls for that exam-oriented approach to education to be changed.
