Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba has confirmed that census exercise across the county is going on well.
Speaking on Sunday in Nyamira town, the county security boss expressed his happiness, adding that the exercise has been going in smoothly.
"So far census is ongoing well. There is no cause for alarm because security officers, Nyumba Kumi officials and clan elders are guiding those conducting the exercise accordingly," said Mariba.
He said no delay has been reported across the county in the exercise which takes at least 30 minutes in every household.
Mariba appealed to residents to remain in their houses so that the exercise can be completed within the stipulated time.
"Residents need to commit themselves to be counted so that they can continue with their daily work. The exercise will run for the whole of this week and we expect by Saturday, 31st August 2019 everyone to have been counted," said the commissioner.
He said that he will be moving across the county to monitor the exercise and ensure no insecurity cases are reported especially at night.
His statement comes just four days after an ICT official was arrested and interdicted after using a laptop meant for exercise for collateral having failed to pay his bills for beer.
