Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has said that the love is not lost between him and Deputy President William Ruto despite their varying political ideologies and apparent enmty.
Initially allies in the United Republican Party (URP), Isaac fell out with the DP ahead of the 2017 elections, which saw him proceed to form his own Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) party.
He proceeded to rally behind the National Super Alliance (NASA) candidate Raila Odinga who was battling against President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto for the presidency, in futility.
Asked about their relationship on Citizen TV's News Night on Tuesday night, the outspoken leader noted that they remain friends with the DP, despite their apparent political rivalry.
He added that his brigade is even looking forward to meeting the DP over the Ministry of Environment's impending eviction of Kalenjin speakers inhabiting Mau Forest.
"DP Ruto is an old friend. We have been to Parliament together. We intent to see the DP, President on the issue of Mau in the coming weeks," he said.
However, he remained reluctant to clear the air on reasons behind their political fallout, which to se extent resulted in his loss to the late Joyce Laboso as he attempted to defend his seat.
He termed it a private issue which he is uncomfortable to discuss in public.
"I don't think that is a matter to he discussed on national television. Am.sure I wouldn't mind looking at that when we meet for a cup of tea," he added.
