Renowned lawyer Donald Kipkorir has called out Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) following Al-Shabaab attack at Camp Simba, a US Naval Base in Lamu.
Al-Shabaab took responsibility for the Sunday's attack, claiming that both Kenya and US suffered casualties.
In a scathing attack, lawyer Kipkorir, without providing evidence, accused KDF of guarding critical information including the number of casualties on the Kenyan side.
Col Paul Njuguna, the KDF spokesman, on Sunday said five terrorists were killed. However, he didn't mention anything about casualties on KDF.
"Al Shabaab attacks Manda in Lamu .. Our brave KDF boys killed all of them with no KDF casualty ..US marines are killed ... KDF should not think all Kenyans are beginning ECDE today with other 4 year old children! KDF should respect us. Truth is a creed for all civilized military," lawyer Kipkorir said in a tweet.
US Africa Command leader Gen Stephen Townsend said three Americans were killed during the Lamu raid.
On Monday, Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i insisted that Kenya did not suffer any casualties during the attack.
“Monica and I were in the US and we have tried to persuade our friends that these criminals must be classified as terrorists...that way, we would be able to decimate this group,” Matiang'i said as quoted by The Star.
But Matiang'i's statement contradicted that of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman, Jim Risch who hinted that a number of Kenyans were killed alongside three Americans in the attack.
“I am saddened to learn that American and Kenyan lives were lost during a heinous terrorist attack on a Kenya-US operating base early this morning,” Republican Senator from Idaho tweeted according to the Star.
