Moments after reporting to work, Awiti warned County Executive committee (CEC) members against laziness as he seeks to leave behind a legacy when he completes his tenure in office.

He asked various officials in his government to pull up their socks to ensure that they deliver their services with commitment and diligence.

The governor has been away since June 27 after his health condition deteriorated.

The last time he made a public appearance was during the issuance of bursary cheques worth Sh100 million at Orero Boys High school in Rangwe Sub County.

The governor presided over the swearing-in of seven members of the newly-created Homa Bay County Municipality Board.

He reminded the county officials to serve the people who elected him with goodwill for the sake of economic growth of the region.

He divulged that some of the sectors in the county government have been performing dismally because of the lack of commitment from the officials tasked with the same.

“I have no room for lazy CEC members! You have to change your methods of service delivery from office to fieldwork so that your impact can be felt on the ground,” he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
