Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati has denied claims that he unleashed goons to humiliate his Kimilili counterpart Didmus Barasa in Kibra.
In an interview with Standard, Arati said that he is the one who saved him from the angry youth after he was accused of bribing voters during the exercise.
Deputy William Ruto's allies have been asking Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i to take action against Arati and his team following the incident.
He lamented that is it not right for the leaders and the general public to view him in bad faith when he had good intentions.
“Sadly, I am being blamed yet I saved my brother from the wrath of the youths who had been told that Jubilee legislators were on the ground to buy voters,” said Arati.
“It is wrong for people and even you the media to report that I unleashed youths on Barasa. It is me who saved him.”
The incident in Kibra has continued to elicit mixed reactions from different factions.
Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale was also roughed up in Kibra.
The residents accused him of forcing his way into the bedroom of the Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
The politician has also condemned the incident. He has asked the police not to let such incidents occur again.
