The Kenya National Highways Authority  (KeNHA) has advised motorists to avoid the route after the installation kicks off on Tuesday, November 12 to Wednesday, November 20.

Members of the general public have also been asked to find alternative routes to their destinations to avoid getting stranded while on their way to work or any other destination.

“KeNHA wishes to inform the general public that a section of Mombasa Road (A8) at Mlolongo will be closed between November 12 and November 20, 2019, in order to install the deck of the footbridge in Mlolongo Town. Motorists heading to Nairobi and Mombasa will use the provided diversions as directed by the signs and traffic marshals,”  said KENHA.

The announcement of the closure of the road led to a snarl-up in traffic on Tuesday.

Users of the road have decried a lack of alternative routes they can use to access their workplaces.

They have asked the government to reconsider alternatives bestowed upon road users in the event of such occurrences.

Motorists and other road users have expressed their frustrations following the new development.
