Suna East MP Junet Mohammed now wants the law amended to enable the president to appoint his deputy.
Junet and his colleagues from the opposition have been accusing Deputy President William Ruto of disrespecting and undermining Uhuru, using the benefit of their joint election.
In a press conference at Parliament buildings on Monday, the MP said that he would suggest proposals to enable the president appoint his deputy, which will enable him to sack him.
“Ruto should have the courage to face the president instead of hiding behind ODM. His attitude towards the president as DP makes me believe Kenyans should consider amending the Constitution to make the DP an appointee of the president as was the case before," he said.
The group has not been happy with the DP over his questions on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) push, which seeks to bring about constitutional changes.
He has been blowing hot and cold on the matter, saying that he supports the proposed changes on one hand but questioning them on the other, which has also been the case with his allies.
He has also been bashed for defying Uhuru's anti-politicking order, and has been accused of using his allies to continue drumming up support for his 2022 presidential candidature.
