Four men were on Friday arraigned in court over allegations of attacking and injuring two police officers who were discharging their duties.
The suspects were arraigned before Molo Principal Magistrate Rhoda Yator who heard that the crime was committed in Kuresoi North, Nakuru County, on July 23.
The court heard that David Kariuki, James Chege, Peter Waithaka and Josephat Mwangi also incited fellow residents to attack the officers in a bid to free a suspect in their custody.
Among those attacked was Molo Police Station (OCS) who had led his officers in arresting a businessman in the area identified as Mr Waithaka.
They were charged with incitement and malicious damage of property after burning a Toyota Probox vehicle belonging to Ms Everlyne Chepkoech which the officers were using.
The court heard that Mr Waithaka called the residents after the officers arresting him failed to produce an arrest warrant, reports the Nation.
The officers were later rescued by their colleagues from Kamwaura Police Station, who also arrested Waithaka and two others.
The four denied the charges and were freed on Sh50,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount, with an option of Sh100,000 cash bail.
The hearing has been set for October 23, 2019.
