Former Harambee stars striker Bernard Mwalala has been tipped as the potential successor to Mwinyi Zahera at Tanzania's Yanga SC.
According to Goal, Mwalala is the front-runner for the job but currently holds the role as the head coach of Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Bandari FC.
“I can confidently tell you Yanga have already talked to Mwalala, It is just a matter of when the current Yanga coach Mwinyi [Zahera] is shown the exit door and Mwalala will come in,” said the source quoted by Goal.
According to the source, Yanga SC is in search of a worthy successor with vast coaching experience who will bring the club back to their glorious days.
Mwalala spent time playing for Yanga before he quit to join the managerial role.
Goal also understands Yanga will sack Zahera and announce a successor before the end of the week.
“They [Yanga] have even called for a press conference to announce the exit of Zahera. It will happen today [Thursday] and then afterwards Mwalala will take charge,” affirmed the source.
Bandari is Seventh in the KPL table, five points behind leaders Tusker FC but has two games in hand following their involvement in the CAF Champions League qualifiers where they were eliminated by Horoya AC of Guinea on a 5-2 aggregate.
