Former Nyamira Senator Kennedy Mong'are Okong'o has hit out at Governor John Nyagarama over the poor health services being offered at the Nyamira County Hospital.
Okong'o while speaking in Nyamira town on Monday accused the county boss of sleeping on the job, adding that the situation has seen several residents struggle to seek medical attention.
The ex-senator claimed that the health services being provided at the facility do not meet the required standards.
"The people of Nyamira seeking medical attention at Nyamira County Hospital are not getting the required services. Nyagarama's administration is doing nothing to improve service delivery on matters health," he said.
Okong'o said the county's failure to close private clinics is to blame for the poor services being offered at the public facility, arguing that public drugs are easily sold to the private clinics.
Okong'o further warned residents against leaders giving handouts, adding that locals should ensure they elect development-oriented leaders in the upcoming 2022 polls.
"I'm sure Nyamira people have learnt a lesson after they voted for Nyagarama two times. Come 2022 the same mistake should not be repeated. Leaders with development ideas must be voted for the sake of realising development across all corners of the county," said Okong'o.
